EAGERLY WAITING

Two people fall in love without ever sharing the same room.

Their relationship exists through messages, letters, and long pauses filled with longing.

On stage, we follow two lives unfolding apart yet deeply entangled. Daily routines are interrupted by words sent across distance — a voice note, a postcard, a video that arrives too late or too early. Reality slides into dream. What is documented blends with what is imagined. Each night shifts with the audience’s attention, silence, and emotional presence, shaping a story that is never exactly the same twice.

Eagerly Waiting is a dramatic long-form performance co-directed by Gabriel Caropreso and Maro Lesioti, born from a real collaboration across continents. Working between Athens and São Paulo, the artists created the piece through shared correspondence and parallel rehearsals, drawing on real letters and lived distance. The result is an intimate and melancholic work about absence, desire, and how we try — and fail — to be close in a fragmented world.

Join us for Eagerly Waiting at SWIMP26 — Wednesday 15 April at Reginateatern.
