Teater Prego (SWE)

Ingmar - improvised Bergman

Ingmar Bergman hated improvised theatre.

The world famous swedish director Ingmar Bergman is known for having had very firm artistic ideas – that it was his will and his vision that mattered. What happens when eight improvisers are set free to do what they want with Bergman's legacy?

Teater Prego uses Bergman's aesthetics as tools when we dive into this endless world of human destinies, demons, places, ages, light and shadows.

One thing is certain. This is Bergman, as Bergman did not want it.

Anundfirsh (SCH)

DON’T MICROWAVE YOUR HAMSTER

“Do not use while sleeping.”

“Do not allow children to play in the dishwasher.”

Have you ever wondered how such warning signs came to be?

Don’t Microwave Your Hamster is an improvised show where you’ll witness the stories behind strange and unnecessary warning signs. The audience selects a sign, and the duo from anundpfirsich takes you on an improvised journey to unravel the mystery behind a warning that seems to defy all common sense.

Performed by Kathi and Basil Koller, the show moves through two parts. It begins with an associative exploration of incoherent worlds inspired by the selected sign, before focusing in on a single backstory: how it came to be that such a warning needed to exist at all. Kathi has been performing and teaching with Theater anundpfirsich for three years, while Basil brings over a decade of improv experience from ensembles in Switzerland and Sweden. Both have trained widely at festivals across Europe — including Uppsala, where they were inspired to develop the form they now bring to SWIMP.

COFFEE AND CIGARETTES (BR/GR)

EAGERLY WAITING

Two people fall in love without ever sharing the same room.Their relationship exists through messages, letters, and long pauses filled with longing.

On stage, we follow two lives unfolding apart yet deeply entangled. Daily routines are interrupted by words sent across distance — a voice note, a postcard, a video that arrives too late or too early. Reality slides into dream. What is documented blends with what is imagined. Each night shifts with the audience’s attention, silence, and emotional presence, shaping a story that is never exactly the same twice.

Eagerly Waiting is a dramatic long-form performance co-directed by Gabriel Caropreso and Maro Lesioti, born from a real collaboration across continents. Working between Athens and São Paulo, the artists created the piece through shared correspondence and parallel rehearsals, drawing on real letters and lived distance. The result is an intimate and melancholic work about absence, desire, and how we try — and fail — to be close in a fragmented world.

PHYLLIDA (UK)

PHYLLIDA SINGS

Phyllida wants to share her new album with you. It’s inspired by months of soul searching, emotional discovery, and messing around with the piano.

Everything is created in the moment and inspired by the audience’s ideas. You may smile, you may laugh, you may cry — you might even sing along. Tonight’s album will be special for tonight.

Phil Lunn is an improviser from London who performs both on stage and behind the piano, appearing solo as his cabaret singer character, Phyllida. He’s been improvising for about twenty years and has taught and performed at international improvisation festivals, working with companies including Music Box, Hoopla, and The Maydays. He currently performs with Sprout Impro and as a guest with several groups.
